272.2

I was very happy & suprised with this weigh in today. That puts me at 31.8 lbs so far this year. Last week was tough, i had a funeral on Wed & Thuesday and i pigged out. So my Friday weigh in was way high, actually 282.2. Then Friday night i got a bug and stayed in bed until Sunday afternoon. So then i lost all the weight from the virus. I figured it would find its way back so i was real good all week. I kept up with my workouts also, but no jogging. One 200 rep snatch workout and 2 little VO2 Max snatch workouts, the rest was all strength training. I even did my second week of my 5 day a week DO deadlift on a standard bar. So i was only expecting to get back to where i was the week proir. So i weighed myself each day, and each day i lost weight.

It could be because of the new protein shakes i switched to from GNC. The guy said it is there most popular brand and eny excess would not be stored in my body.

It could also be because i did not have a pig out day last Sat because i was so sick. I don't know. I'll see how i do this week and report back on next Friday.

My training is going well for CGC. i am doing everything i should be doing except Blob & Grippers. I concentrated on them before Gripmas and they did not help me at all. Lets see if this new training will help me beat someone in something besides sledge.

I have been training on my Axle DO, 1" v-bar and 2 HP. Hard to say where i am because the Axle is affecting my 2 HP.

Goal on those 3 lifts at the comp
2 HP - 175#
DO Axle - 340#
1" V-Bar - 300#

Then 25# on the sledge and i really dont care about the grippers

The medley wil suck also, but this is still new for me, Gripmas will be the real test in December
1" V-bar - 300#

Made it through the first week. 5 days. It was supposed to be pretty hard but i have room for improvement. I need to step it up this week with some manmaker cardio for Tues, Wed & Friday nights. I will stick with the 2 workouts per day, that seems to be doing okay

The DL stuff is on a 2 week cycle. I should be able to make it all week this week without failing in the DO on the Std bar, but the Axle DL will be close. I will be at 310 by Friday which should be about max for 1 rep after warm up, and i'll do it with 5 sets of 1 with no warm up, hmmm. (PR is 160 with 1 hand)

The ISO's are still doing okay i guess, had to judge them, i'll just keep doing them. I will re-wrap the IM wraps before i start tomorrow morning because they seem loose, that may help wobble the startght 7" pc past 3 degrees, lol

The kettlebell snatches seem okay, i could do more but i need to keep that in check because it could tear up my hands pretty damn quick and i do not want to use gloves this time. I'll just keep adding each week, and like i said this week will be the man makers with the 16 kg, so that should still be okay on my hands (i hope)

My weight was off this week, i had a funeral on Wednesday & Thursday so i ate alot, i was up 4.4 lbs as of Friday morning. Then Friday night i go real sick and today i weighed in at 277.2, that 5 lbs lower then Friday, but thats because i emtied out my whole body. Lets see how i do when i weigh in this Friday. I'm thinking below 275! definately

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Made it through Day 1 and did everything i wanted. I also included the sledge work. 5 sets of 1 during the day.

I have decided to try something different with the sledge this time. i will only up the weight every week and never have a down cycle. Just thought i would try something different. So i'm stating at 17 lbs. It did not feel bad at all. Still had a couple problems with my oinky not feeling fully engaged so i need to work on my grip of the handle and pre cock my wrist a little it to raise my pinky on the bottom of the handle.

I am using the 31" handle that is cut to that length, no more adjusting my hand in the handle to make it harder. I'm just going to be adding weight, 1/2 lb per week.

I really want to hit 25 lbs at the comp, that would be so sweet. It would really get everyones attention !!!

I am very sore today but thats good, it will go away soon, i'm about to do my AM workout next.

277.6

The weight is still coming off. 26.4 lbs this year so far. And atleast another 45 or so more lbs to loose. And it has been mainly from doing weight watchers 5-6 days per week. My cardio has not started yet. I tried to start the kettlebell race but my wrist is still really sore and because of the weather my training partner has not come over in 3 weeks. Not a good excuse but i used the last couple of weeks to do alot of steel calibrating so that really is a workout in itself.

Did a couple of cert bends last night. And i plan on doing a couple more this weekend. Then my goal is to start a rigorous workout cycle on Monday. For 1 month, all out. And see what happens.

My Plan: Mon - Fri

AM:
Snatches - maby with the treadmill, maby just for volume
ISO's - bending iso's 5 sec hold on 6 different pcs pre kinked to different angles
Axle DL - 5 reps increasing 5 lbs per day (Starting at 200 lbs)

PM:
DL - 5 at set weight and 5 at 90 % of starting weight with a 5 min rest inbetween. All DO to work my grip also
ISO's - yes 2 times per day
Monday PM (on top of usual workout)
Kettlebell Snatches w/ 24 kg - 15 sec on 15 sec off (VO2 Max) - Increased by 2 sets every Monday
KB Presses w/ 32 kg - Easy day - Same ladder i have been climbing for 3 years
2 HP - warm up and then sets of 3 - same as a couple of weeks ago
2" V-bar - just keep adding weight until i can not pull anymore

Thursday PM (on top of usual workout)
Kettlebell Snatches w/ 24 - same as Monday
KB Presses w/ 32 kg - 1 rung harder then Monday
2 HP - Same as Monday but sets of 4
Rolling Thunder - Just keepp adding weight

*** 1" V-bar with alternate with 2" every Monday
*** 3" dubb bell handel will alternate with Rolling Thunder every Thursday

I will be a monster after a month if i can keep up this pace. Lets see!!!!

Snatches at lunch time

5/5 every 1:30 for 10 sets w/ 24 Kg
- 100 reps @ 24 kg (53 lbs) = 5,300 lbs

total = 9,116 lbs

Started the snatch Race to 1 Million yesterday

Yesterday snatches
15:15 Vo2 Max w/ 24 kg for 12 sets of 6
total of 72 reps = 3,816 lbs
- Done in the begining of the workout

Warm up
5 reps of 200 on my 2" Axle
- I plan on adding weight every week, just to get some thick bar work
- i really should do this as 3 sets of 3 maybe?

Snatches (See above)
- seems to be good before pinch & presses

Presses w/ 32 kg
2,2,2,2,1
- felt a little heavy today

2 HP
6 @ 50
3 @ 70
1 @ 90
1 @ 115
14 @ 135 (3,3,3,2)
- the weight was 5 lbs too heavy for the last couple of workouts, i re weighed the set up today
- Tough, but i made it. I think i can still add again next week, we will see

Bending
14-1/2" x 7/16" Zinc Plated Brace bend
Failed, got a pretty good wobble, thats it

281.8 yesterday

lost another 3 lbs last week. So i am very happy with my weight loss. It's odd because my cardio is still in the early stages. The VO2 Max snatch workout is minimal, but i am doing weight watchers for 5 days per week. last year part of my problem was that i was only doing it 4 days so this extra day of being good really helps. basiclly i follow the points from Sunday to Friday morning weigh in. what i should do is be good on Fridays also and weigh in on Saturdays but the weight is coming off fast enough right now, and if i make it too hard to follow i will quit like i usually do

Thursday workout

VO2 Max snatches w/ 24 kg
15:15 for 10 sets / 6 reps per set
- getting up there and still feeling pretty good
- seems to workoput pretty good as a warn up before the grip stuff also

Press ladder w/ 32 kg
3,3,3,2,2
- that 3rd set of 3 was tough. i really need to get the 3rd day per week into this cycle!!!

2 HP
50 x 6, 70 x 3, 90 x 1, 120 x 1, 135 x 14 (4,4,4,2)
- the last set is getting tough, next week at 140 may be our max for the 14 reps
- i'll only add the 5 lbs per week if i can get the 14 reps as 4,4,4,2
- most of the reps were still regrip, i cant do 4 without putting it down

ISO's with IM wraps. Not supposed to be ISO's but i tried to bend an old Bastard from 30 degrees and it only made it to 35 degrees.

Did 2 hits after that and i never moved again

IM wraps with pcs pre bent to 30 degrees
3 pcs 1/4" x 7" crs
1 pc 1/4" hex x 7" crs
1 pc 1/4" hex x 6" crs
3 pcs 60d nails

Bare Hand
1 pc of 3/16" x 6" crs (160 lb)
*** DU worked the best but i had to keep moving it to different positions because it hurts. So all of the positions were modified at best.

Not much bending but i am trying to do something atleast every other night to get back on track and kill some big stuff this year

cutting the heads off the nails with my new (craigs list special) 48" bolt cutters works great, it really cuts out all the wrapping time that i hate

Sunday Calibrating

400, 430, 450, 460, 465, 450, 470, 500, 520, 450, 500, 530, 550, 570, 590, 595, 450, 520, 560, 590, 600, 605, 220, 240, 260, 280, 295, 300

Thanks 12,300 lbs and it actuallt felt pretty good. I need to see if it has halped with my DO. I just want to get ahead of all this calibrating so i can take a break and do other workouts. Once i can get a better stock pile i can rest and then just fill gaps when people but stuff, IF they ever start doing it. I think 5 guys have actually bought stuff so far. Worse case i will have enough bending stock to last a little while, LOL
Friday Night Calibrating

270, 270, 310, 360, 375, 310, 360, 380, 390, 360, 430, 460, 480, 490, 400, 450, 465

That was 6,560 lbs i pulled off the ground, So i consider it a workout.

284.8

Wow, what a great weigh in this morning. So thats 19.2 lbs so far this year, and i have not really kicked into the killer cardio with KB Snatches & Treadmill work.

Only workout i plan on doing tonight will be calibrating a bunch of stock and some more bending, i'll update this blog latter

catch up on the last couple of days

I still have not done the KB & Swing workout, but its getting closer. I figure the lore i post about it the better chance i have of getting started

Wednesday:
The only workout i did was steel calibrating. That is basicly a modified hand & thigh dead lift. The weight only has to come off the ground, both ends of the bar, and it is a good lift. I have someone watch me for the heavy weights because its tough to tell sometimes. So all the weights i list are 1 rep, then i add weight and lift again with a couple of min rest so i can add the weight and let the bar cool down
500,530,545, 500,570,600,620,630,500,600,630,650,670
- I can really feel it throughout my whole damn body.

Thursday:
Calibrating - 600,650,670,690,710,715

PM workout
KB Presses with a 32 kg bell
Ladders (So 3,3 = 1,1,2,2,3,3 without putting down the bell)
3,3 - 3,3, - 2,2 - 2,2 - 2,2

2HP (done between sets of presses)
50 lbs - 6 reps
70 lbs - 3 reps
90 lbs - 1 rep
120 lbs - 1 rep
125 lbs - 14 reps (4,4,4,2)
*** We need to try Presses & 2 hp after the cardio so we are warmed up. I thought the extra warm ups at a lighter weight would help but this still seems harder then it should be

VO2 Max w/ 24 kg bell
15:15 for 8 sets
*** Slow progress but it still got our heart rate up pretty darn good.

Bending (LOL)
320 lb 6" nail
- 3 with DU
415 lb 6" Grade 2 bolt - DU was a no go so i reversed it in 2 hits then swept it DO finally crushing it.
*** Very dissapointing night for bending

KB Swings & Walking on a Treadmill

No workout last night, but i used bolt cutters to cut a bunch of Drill Rod for the Benders Battlefield. That alone worked up a sweat. Pytting one haldle on the ground and pushing straight down on the other handle gets tough. I cut over 130 pcs and some was as bug as 9mm. It would be alot easier if i had a larger pair of bolt cutters. I also realized that it works my wrist trying to stabalize it to push downward. Maybe thats a good thing. It's hard to tell because my wrist has been sore for so long now.

When i weighed myself yesterday i was at the same weight i was last Friday, so it should be a good week for weight loss. Now i just need to get on that treadmill and start my kettlebell / walk workout. That should help shred some weight and also help my grip. See Below for my best, and lets see how good i can do now, will be interesting

25 reps of a 2-Hand Swing w/ 24 kg bell and active rest between sets is walking on a treadmill
1:00 rest - PR is 52 min = 650 swings
1:30 rest - PR is 75 min = 750 swings

I need to start with the longer rest period so 1:30 will be a starting point. And in the beginning i am sure my Cardio will hold me back, but after a little while it will be grip strength

I did this before i ever did any grip stuff at all. So i do not know if it will definately work but it cant hurt. I know its what i used a coule of years ago to loose 60 lbs.

Monday, January 25, 2010

Saturday night show

I wound up doing a little show at a friends 40th B-day party. Someone bet me 20 bucks i could not rip a phone book and that led to me putting on a little show for everyone.
1- Phone book
1 - deck of bikes
1 - Frying pan
1 - 12" spike
1 - 8" cresent wrench
1 - nail into a board

The kids were so amazed, it was great. The one kid wants me to do her birthday party in a couple of weeks. I had some bid guy try the spike and he could not move it at all. I really think they appreciate the stuff alot more when they can try it for themselves.

Afterwards the kids would not leave alone until i signed the stuff so they could keep it. Really made me feel pretty good.
Quich workout today

DO Deadlift - Standard Oplmpis bar
245, 335, 425, 425, 425
All singles
*** not much time so i wanted to do something
*** 425 barely went up, maybe because i was trying to scroll 2 nails before DL
*** Sumo style, I tried one regular and i could not get it off the ground, hmmmm

288.8

Thats my weight as of first thing yesterday morning, I'm down 15.2 lbs so far this year. So far basically just weight watchers, and i cheat a little on fridays, and eat anything i want on Staurdays. i have lost weight this way before, but i usually cheated on Sundays aslo, so this time, Sundays are diet days.

I have been real busy with work lately. And i also started selling calibrated drill rod on the benders battlefield. So i have not posted in a while, but that will change. I plan on posting all workouts, and maybe a weekly summary when i have time.

I need to increase my Cardio so i can excelerate the weight loss. It will have something to do with Kettlebells, i'm just not sure in what capacity yet. I added some vo2 max style snatches to my workouts on Monday & Thursdays but i need to get some more added on a daily basis, but i also need to make sure i do not get bored with them again (like when i was doing 500-600 per day for the 50,000 pt kb snatch challange)

I am also doing a DO deadlift race to see who can get to 500 first. I am at 455 as of the other day but i got 475 a couple inches off the ground. That is my PR from about 6 months ago, i'll get 500 soon, i think by the end of March at the latest!!! I added KB farmers walks to my workouts at the end, so maybe they will help also? we will see

Oh yeah, my wrist still hurts from Gripmas in December. It never fully recovered and i keep trying to do sledge work anyway. Oh well, if i can get stronger, who cares if it hurts, if it keep affecting my gains i will have to take a brake. I have had good workouts & bad workouts since Gripmas so it will be interesting. I think logging it here will help me keep track of it also.
