Week 3 Day 5
Blob w/ left - What the F--k!!!! my hand is killing me. It's swollen, throbbing, painfull half way up my forearm and if i was smarter i would have quit by now. But i have come this far, i have to suffer for 1 more workout so i can reap the benifits and there better be benifits damit.
The thumb reps were completed with my right (i'm doing the same thumb work for both hands) but my left failed today. Not like yesterday where re-starting helped me make it. Today starting with the first set i had to restart. After the 4th set i could only get one rep. And the last set i could not even get one rep without help.
I decided (because i'm a f'n idiot) to bump up my weights on the holds. My pinky & ring finger is now the 35 lb hex and the middle & index is the 37.5 lb blob. it's hard to believe because it is hell week and i'm already spent BUT i did it. Now i could not even do either of these lifts when i started. So after some rest i really think that Blob is mine.
I still think i have a chance with my right even though i'm only doing the thumb work. We will see what part of this hell really works.
During the walk at the end i put it down 5 times the first set, but only 3 the following sets. I learned the 5 min rest between sets reallt does make all the difference. Rest is waht makes you stronger, just like Rick Walker says in the program, rest is the key.
Grippers w/ right - Just okay i guess. not much to tell. I think the hell of my left is over ridding my right. This is still in the easy stages so lets see if i feel that way in a couple of weeks.

It's nice to know someone out there is toughing though this stuff at the same time. The strength definately comes (when I finally get to recover). I've really seen the gains in the past couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteA couple questions out of curiosity:
-Is Corn Huskers really that magical? We don't have it in Canada but if it's that good I might order some.
-What are you using for your negs & overcrushes? I'm using a Elite and heavily filed BB Master for my #3 hand and a GM and heavily filed IM 1.5 for my #2.5 hand.
Corn huskers is great stuff. But before you order it try some other kind of hand moistureizer. I personally think it works because your skin is never dry and that helps cut back on the calouses. My kettlebell instructor turned me onto it. It's not a one use miracle which also makes me think other moisturizers will help.
ReplyDeleteAlso i found that atletic tape is really helping also. I put one strip on the handle that post into my palm. I may try a strip for the other handle soon. Last time i tried putting it on my palm but that always just wrinkled up and never worked as well.
I'm using a COC #4 for my negatives. I still can not seem to get it closed, i think i've come close a couple of times but thats it. I should make better progress once i get to the Negative crushes, so far its just smooth out negatives this cycle. I used the COC #3.5 for the last part of my last cycle. It helped me get really close to the COC #2.5.
And i'm using a HG #200 for my over crushes. I really need to file it down because it's too easy with my right. I tried using the COC #2 but i just don't get that overcrush feeling. Plus it's more like a struggle to keep it closed. Last cycle i used the #2 for the last 2 weeks (i think) so i'll get back to using that but i'm sticking with the HG #200 for now.
